Playdate drama!!!!

I seem to say this a lot, but only in Los Angeles would something like this happen. I'm writing about it just after it happened--FINALLY I have something exciting to write about.

So I scheduled a play date with a few other moms. We've been making it a weekly thing on Mondays to go to the playground at The Americana in Glendale which is an upscale mall. It's usually a lot of fun. So I'm sitting there chatting with the other moms, Sarah and Christina, when we all notice helicopters circling us above and tons of police sirens. Just as we're looking up and wondering what is going on, this guy comes running toward us. He was running right through the play ground and seriously I think we made eye contact. About 10 feet behind him were about 3 police officers chasing him. I just stood aside and got out of the way of everyone running. About 2 minutes after they all passed I was thinking, "why did I just move aside? I could have totally tripped the guy and the police would have caught him." Instead the guy continued to out run the out of shape police officers, and he made it into an elevator. Meanwhile there were about 5 or 6 police officers around the area looking for him. My friends and I saw him on the top level of the parking garage where my car is parked. Oh great! Now I can't even get to my car.

So we ended up being evacuated by the police because we were now in the middle of a crime scene. Apparently the guy was wanted for armed robbery in Burbank. We had no idea how long this was going to take, so all of us with our multiple children and strollers walked across the street and found a borders to hang out for a while.

We were in there for about an hour when we decided to call people to come and get us. By the way I'd like to apologize to Borders for the mess we made in the children's area. Jonah is still potty training and was wearing underwear. He will not go in the big potty, so he ended up going in his pants and I'm sure he left a little puddle of pee on the floor. It was hard to tell because it was dark carpet. One of the kids tore open a box of toys, we left crumbs and sand. What a day! Now I'm home trying to make the kids nap, and of course neither one of them is asleep. I still don't know when they'll let us in to get my car. I'm hoping I remembered to lock it and I hope they don't charge me for parking.

By the way if you want to hear a better interpretation of this story you should read Sarah's blog because she's a much better writer than I am and I'm sure it's going to be really entertaining.

New Year/New Start

Now a new year is here, so I decided to start the blog up again. I made it through Thanksgiving, Christmas, my birthday and my free time is finally back for some short chunks of time during the day.

I feel like I've been mentally and emotionally gone for a while. Ashton has been a challenging baby. All of my time was spent holding him, catching up on sleep, or trying to figure out why he was crying--usually there was nothing I could do. He also only attached to me, so I was the only person he would calm down for. Now he is doing much better since he is weaned and sleeps through the night.

Here are some of my favorite moments from the last few months.



JONAH
We have been potty training and it's going well. A few weeks ago as he flushed the toilet he waved bye bye to his poop and said, "Bye, bye poo poo. I wuv you!"


ASHTON
Ashton is now 7 months old. He is crawling now and very anxious to walk. He already pulls himself up and stands next to the couch and his toys. He is much happier now that he can move. He eventually finds me though.




CHRISTMAS
My parents were here for Christmas. It was so nice to have them here and the kids loved spending time with them.



I'm holding my new "So you think you can Dance" workout video. I'm totally going to get into pre baby shape this year.

Ashton is here

Well things have settled down a bit since the baby was born. I have about 5 minutes to post something before I need to do something else like pay attention to Jonah, or clean or get the baby when he cries.

I've decided that it's fun to dress up my kids. Here are is my latest photo shoot and some of my favorite pictures.

Jonah getting into Ashton's chair and cuddling with his little bunny. The bunny is supposed to hang above his head to play with and look at, but Jonah likes to make all the stuffed animals feel loved.

Tribute to Jonah

This is my favorite picture of Jonah so far. My friend Claire made him and the new baby matching bow ties which I totally love. Jonah wore it for the first time to church and I thought he looked so cute, so I took a picture. He actually smiled for it too.

I decided to dedicate this post to Jonah, since this will be his last moment in the spotlight before he has to share it with his little brother.

This picture is right after we got him a toddler bed and brought it home. He loved it so much he decided to pile all of his stuffed animals on it and bury himself in them.

We weren't planning on switching him over to a toddler bed just yet, but when it was time for bed he hopped in his toddler bed and put the blanket on himself and was ready to go to sleep.
This was after he went to sleep in the bed. Later on he ended up falling out of his bed. We heard a thud and went in his room to find him curled up on the floor. Later he started being scared to sleep in his toddler bed, se now he's back in his crib.


This video is so cute. It shows how Jonah treats his stuffed animals and dolls like they are his friends. He carries them around the house, puts them at the breakfast table and in chairs. This time he had one of my old dolls and put her on the piano bench, so she could play the piano with him. I love how nurturing and sweet my little boy is. He's not afraid to play with dolls either.

Nesting

I know a lot of my fans out there have wondered where in the world I have been. Well I've been busy nesting for my little boy coming on May 21st--unless he gets here a little early like Jonah did.

This is what I've been working on. I'm proud of my latest work. I made all new bedding for Jonah and his brother's room.






I also worked on the guest bedroom. Here's the before.

I am mostly proud of how much money I saved--especially on the guest room make-over. I used part of an old duvet cover and just added the black and burgandy fabric. Then I made the curtains and the art above the bed.

Jonah's latest greatest moments

The other day Braden had Jonah out and about running errands. Well when they were at the gas station, Jonah kept pointing at someone and saying, "mamma." His latest thing is pointing at pictures of us around the house and saying "mamma" and "dada."

I can totally see the resemblance. I have big boots like that too. I'm flattered! At least the girl is hot.


Here is another one that happened this week. I came out of the shower to find this standing in the den.


He looked at me and said, "Mmmmmmmmm!" With excitement like he always does when there is food around. It was blueberries from a container that was sitting on the kitchen counter. I was kind of mad, but I couldn't help laughing because he looked so funny. I was just glad he only got it on himself.

Highlights

I've been out of the blogging world for a little while. I wanted to highlight a few things since my last post. Here are some of my favorite pictures.

My brother, his wife,their 3 kids and my parents all came to visit for a post Christmas celebration. It was a lot of fun except I got sick just as they arrived and was in bed for about 3 days while they were here. Then my brother caught it and Jonah. I'm just glad nobody else did. We did manage to make it to the beach and the zoo though.
